This Day In Mets Infamy with Rusty 6/29/09

Hello my fellow Mets fans ( or at least those that haven’t jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge yet). It is time for the ” It’s always darkest before the dawn edition of “This Day In Mets Infamy With Rusty” .
First off celebrating birthdays today is journyman pitcher from the ‘66 & ‘67 team - the late Bob “I wasn’t in Jaws” Shaw (1933)
and utility infielder Larry “knish” Stahl (1941)
Transactions:
New York Mets selected Mike “Jorgy!!”" Jorgensen in fourth round of free agent draft on June 29, 1966. Jorgensen was later traded along with Tim “crazy Horse” Foli and Ken Singleton to the Expo’s for the La Grande L’orange ( Rusty Staub to all you laymen out there ). Also when Jorgensen came back he was one of the more [prolific Mets on those bad teams from ‘79 to ‘83.
New York Mets purchased pitcher Hal “WHO!” Reniff from the New York Yankees on June 29, 1967.
New York Mets signed free agent Lino ” HAIRBREATH HARRY” Urdaneta on June 29, 2005. - This was another Omar spring training pick up if memory serves me right after the Tigers released him - He was a Burgos type of pitcher - he threw heat but he either was wild or he gave up tape measure homeruns.
And the Mo Vaughn tidbit of the day - a young Mo was taken into police custody after he tried to assault Miss MaryAnn from Romper Room when he tried to take her magic hand mirror - his excuse ? He thought it was a big Lollipop.
And guys on a serious note - PLEASE STAY POSITIVE !!!

I agree rusty!
I’m POSITIVELY disgusted.
;(
same here prismo same here but we kinda knew we were exposed iof carlos delgado went down - and we traded carp to the mariners for putz - but something will be done - if not a trade - then a kick in the ass will do - I just wonder what is going through fred and jeff’s minds right now? - hopefully not how much money they are generating
but still - look at the ‘73 mets and the ‘06 cards they got in with a barely .500 record

Here’s hoping, Rusty…..
I like the idea of getting Teahen. I wonder if we could trade Murphy and a minor leaguer for him? It is KC, they might fall for it.
MF4D - WHAT HAPPENED U?? u are always the even keeled one on either of the sites we are ( or were) ASSOCIATED WITH cant give up yet !! @ sabermetician - it would probably take a kunz and a evans for tehan
I would be all over Kunz and Evans for Teahen. Then we solidify 1B until Carlos gets back, we have someone who can play a corner spot if necessary and a nice IF backup.
very true - but unfortunately we are not the only team bidding on his services
Oh, no - I’m not giving up yet. Not nearly. But I really thought we could win 1 out of 3 this past weekend. To get swept, with absolutely no offense going for us whatsoever, is just sending out red flags to me.
‘It ain’t over ’till it’s over’.
After 86 games last year we were 42-44. If we can pull off 43-43 this year I think we can get this thing done.
thats the spirit !!!
