    Whats the guys OPS?

  2. I lived in Boston when the Sox traded Tomo Ohka for Ugueth. People were pretty upset about losing Okha. My how things have changed for the Sox since then. Did Ugueth Urbina kill someone or am I mixing him up with Cesar Cedeno? Sometimes alliteration messes up my mind.

  3. CaseStreet says:

How does his signing bonus compare to the ML draft signing bonus? Is it comparable to a later first rounder?

    • stickguy says:

late 1st round, maybe early 2nd (especially if you go a bit over slot).

Assuming he is a talent equal to the bonus, it is like getting your 1st round pick back, since they would have picked later in the round. Just probably a lot younger.

I wonder how many more of these million dollar babies the Mets will sign this summer.

I hear Brazil is the new frontier in int’l baseball prospects being that it’s a huge country and not everyone can play soccer. I wonder if we’ll hear of any Brazilian player signings.

  6. I don’t know how much official confirmation is needed to make these things official, but here is what the guy whose job it is to cover international signings for Baseball America has to say about it:

“It was widely believed before July 2 that the Mets would sign Urbina, but there has been no official announcement and I don’t feel confident enough in the information we have to say that the Mets have signed him. I don’t want to be calling the election for Al Gore, you know?
