Good morning my fellow beleaugered Mets fans It is time for the post All Star Game edition of ” This Day In Mets Infamy With Rusty” so dust off your rally caps and try to enjoy the rest of the season.
Birthday greetings go out to original Mets and sometime pitching coach Bob “Lefty” Miller (1935)
up next is the late Donn Clendenon (1935) - he was the most important aquisition of the ‘69 season. He brought quiet leadership and carried the team on his back offensively
outfielder Don “Bosco” Bosch (1942)
James “Met for a second” Baldwin (1971)
Wilson “super scrub ” Delgado (1972) - Wilson was the Aregnis Reyes of the Art Howe years.
current Mets pitcher and latest scrap heap pick up -Fernando Nieve (1982)
And in INFAMY !!!!
New York Mets traded Ron ” HULA HULA” Darling and Mike Thomas to the Montreal Expos for Tim ” Corky” Burke on July 15, 1991. - it was understood that Darling’s best years were behind him but to trade him for a past his prime relief pitcher ?? That was blasphemous !!
New York Mets signed free agent Vic ” Tayback” Darensbourg on July 15, 2004. - he was another player that fell into the black hole which is the Mets organization!

And todays Mo Vaughn tidbit of the day - On his downtime he has taken up residency at Sea World Orlando - he was last seen feeding with Shamu !!
