I say no - because the Mets would never give a a contract that big to a player that has never played in the majors
Yea but (IF) they did sign him would you be excited to see the kid pitch like people were excited to see Dwight many years ago?
I have to admit the kid is special he is no Alay Soler.
How many years is he asking for and how much per year?
I hear 40 to 60 million but is that per year?
Too bad we shafted Livan. El Duque and Livan are legend like in Cuba. It might have helped having them lobbying Chapman for the Mets. Of course, it all comes down to money, but it might have helped.
Dwight Gooden - he was someone special. I tried never to miss a game he was starting during those early years. Oh, to have someone like that again on the Mets.
I just don’t know about signing an unknown for that kind of money….
I read somewhere that the number he ultimately gets will be something near what Strasburg got as the top overall pick — not $40-$60m.
Yeah, there is NO way he gets 40-60M. He is not in the same situation as Dice K AND that money would count towards the cap where I don’t think the bidding fee for Dice did. That’s a lot of money for a guy who could go to A ball to start with. Seems like a perfect move for the O’s.
