All Hale the New Third Base Coach?

According the the NY Daily News:
Chip Hale likely in as New York Mets third base coach after holding same title with Diamondbacks
I know nothing about him more than what I read in the link so you can go there and enjoy. One thing I will comment on is the article suggest the Mets are interested in Bob Melvin for bench coach and of course Hale served under Melvin as well. I would think he would be a good pickup.

I hope the mets can pick up melvin. Talk about pressure on manuel. What is going to happen to his boy shines if melvin takes the bench coach role?
I don’t think it was ever determined that Shines would be on the staff at all. He gets a job in the organization but according to multiple reports the Mets are still looking for a bench coach.
I hope they pick up the successor to manuel…the sooner this guy is gone the better
They could do worse than Melvin.
Like the conservative talk show host or not, it appears they are right on at least ONE thing. The death of journalisim.
It appears as all we have now is a bunch of people competing with each other for a story that does not exist.

“Sources have informed SI.com’s Jon Heyman that the re-signing of longtime Mets scout Sandy Johnson is an indication of the “diminishing faith” in general manager Omar Minaya. Johnson was apparently talked into returning because of the stability he brings to the front office. He had been considering retirement.”

So OK if Sandy had left then it would have been an indication of the “diminishing faith” in Omar because another one of his guys were let go.
lol, unfortunately what’s passed as journalism today is pimping itself out to advertisers. that’s why the blogosphere is the best place to get news, we don’t get paid squat
But the problem is that even though those guys know very little, we know nothing more than what they tell us. Only thing that we have the advantage of is hopefully being able to put all of it together and know the truth is in the middle.
I kind of agree but much of what they report doesn’t turn out to be true.
Exactly, they all employ the same approach as Omar does during ST. Throw enough crap on the wall hope some of it sticks and logically something will. I think that’s a good strategy for a GM and a terrible one for a reporter. There is nothing that keeps them in check anymore.
Yeah, I don’t see how retaining Omar’s guy connotes Omar’s demise.
And what has Heyman done, started a damn firestorm of post on how Omar is in trouble. Look, is it not clear that if the Mets don’t win Omar is gone? Why do we need signs to point to that?
I couldn’t pick Chip Hale out of a police lineup but he has some minor league managing experience which might also put some heat on Jerry.
And I wouldn’t mind an experienced manager as the team’s bench coach. Don’t know much about Melvin but I’d take him in that role over Razor. Hell, I’d take Papa Smurf in that role over Razor.
True, but from what I read today, Melvin seems to be a good guy for the job. Nice safe guy who has had some success and is not old.
I think a MOY award is sufficient qualification for bench coach. One thing I read about him today is that he was known for changing lineups frequently. Not sure I want someone influencing the Gangsta to be folling around like that…

There is a lot of ties to the Dbacks AND Melvin. Perhaps they are surrounding Melvin with coaches so if Manuel is let go there will not have to be major changes during the season?
you needed MC to point that out lol…isnt it kinda obvious. I wouldnt be surprised if they tell melvin in the meeting to consider the team his at the ASB lol. I dont think the mets intend on giving omar and manuel a long leash(spl)…

Aside from Hale and Melvin (neither have been officially hired yet) are there others in the fold?
By the way, it sounds like Wally (there’s an AZ connection!!) will be managing in Pt. St. Lucie. That’s a fantastic move, IMO.
Wally and Sandy are both connected right?
Wally’s only connection to Melvin is that Melvin replaced him when he was fired as manager! I’m pretty sure Melvin was the Mariners manager when Wally was managing in Single A for AZ.
Sandy was an Ass’t GM for AZ.
