Mets Are Interested In Bringing Back Uncle Elmer

Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of FoxSports.com are reporting that the Mets are interested in bringing back righthanded reliever Elmer Dessens . Dessens’ agent - Oscar Suarez was quoted as saying ” We are talking.”
Dessens, 38-, pitched halfway decent for the Mets this past season, finishing with a a 3.31 ERA with a 1.04 WHIP in 32.2 innings while out of the pen. In his thirteen year career, Dessens has pitched for nine teams.
All I can say is ” SHOOT ME NOW !!!” Honestly I would rather bring up Eddie Kunz , Tobi Stoner or Adam Bostick ( if the Mets resign him) to battle it out for a bullpen role instead of us keep signing these retreads. But hey I guess Omar knows what he’s doing ( rolls eyes)

Could be on a minor league deal.
What’s David doing here?
oops my bad
I am going to cry !!!!!!!! All I hear is how the Mets are going after these type of players and sure enough they are .I am sure he is for Triple A but you know we would see him at one point pitching a must have game for the Mets
Phillies sign Valdez. I say we counter by signing LH Catcher Paul Bako.
Kind of like in the NFL when one team signs another team’s back up QB to learn their plays.
Although, the Phillies only have 1 play, hit a homer.
heyman seems to think the mets have a real shot of getting halliday - ala the sanatana deal
Happy Thanksgiving!
And as we know Heyman is right 1/2 the time or was that Olney?
I hope this is the time Heyman is right!
Case, you know my mantra regarding the Johan-ROY 1-2 punch by now!
Rusty and Case–have a great day tomorrow guys!
Rusty, where’d you see this?
heyman was on fatcessas show - kong have a great turkey day in n,j and say hi to the juggling suns lol
ok, thanks.
no prob btw f-mart is in winter ball but has yet to play
i havent posted anything in months but the only way the Mets have a shot at making the postseason is buying Starting Pitching.
Trading for Halladay is a must and I would give up any prospect we have besides Ike Davis. I would even take Wells in return if that was necessary to get it done.
Sign Lackey,
acquire a decent catcher to play 60-70% of the games.
package Maine, Castillo for a stop-gap LF
Leave Murphy at 1st with Tatis as the sub
With a rotation of Santana, Halladay, Lackey, Pelfrey and even Awful Ollie that should be enough to compete for the wildcard with a lineup of Reyes, Hudson, Wright, Beltran, Francoeur, Murphy, LF, C
Hey oleo, thanks for stopping by.
I def agree that top tier pitching is a must though paying 20 for halladay and 16 for lackey will pretty much stop spending money for your left fielder or Hudson, who isn’t much better than castillo.
I guess you could do it if you went with pagan, Murphy and thole.
Packing Maine and castilo is an interesting idea.
it will take more money than that to make this a postseason team…not only that but they cant spend that money on average players like Piniero
if the mets sign 2 SP this offseason i would like to see Maine in the setup role.
Just incase no one brought it up November 25th is an anniversary for the following:
From Wikipedia:
“By 1976, Robertson was weary of touring. After having to cancel some tour dates due to Manuel suffering a severe neck injury in a boating accident in Texas, Robertson urged the Band to retire from touring with a massive Thanksgiving Day concert on November 25, at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, California.[25] The concert featured a horn section with arrangements by Allen Toussaint, and a stellar list of guests, including Hawkins, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Muddy Waters, Dr. John, Van Morrison, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Ronnie Wood, Paul Butterfield, and Neil Diamond.
The concert was filmed by director Martin Scorsese, and was subsequently combined with interviews, as well as separately-recorded soundstage performances with country singer Emmylou Harris (”Evangeline”) and gospel-soul group The Staple Singers (”The Weight”). Released in 1978, the concert film-documentary was accompanied by a triple-LP soundtrack.”
