Real Dirty Rumor: Teahen traded to the Whitesox?

MLBTR has been all over a potential trade between the Royals and the Whitesox involving Teahen and Chris Getz.
Royals Agree To Trade Mark Teahen To ChiSox?
How does this relate to the Mets? Two ways that I can think of. The Mets were rumored to be interested in Teahen during the season last year. Second this may officially point to the end of Dye and the Sox as according to reports Teahen would mot likely play RF.

While it’s not officially completed, I love the fact that there is such a strong rumor out there less than 12 hours after the last pitch of the WS.
I hope it’s a precursor to an unusually active off season for all of MLB, including the Mets.
That would be a lot of fun! I hope for the same. Winter meetings in only a month!
If the Sox are trading Getz might Teahen also be a consideration at 2B? He could also fill their hole at 3B.
Nice move for the Sox. Not because I think he’s a difference maker but because he fills at least one hole with a credible ML bat and leaves them the flexibility to still try to get the best players available regardless of position.
That’s a great point Wanny. He’s a rare player, ala DeRosa, who doesn’t really hinder his team’s future moves in any positional way.
Speaking of rumors…Garland’s option has been declined.
Yay! Just in time for the holiday season. Garland for all! I wonder what’s up with Tinsel?
For a backend guy you can’t get much better the guy is the model of an average backend innings eater.
I’ll agree with the innings eater part.
How is he not at least an average backend guy? What more do you expect out of a #4/5?
He was actually better this year than in 2008 (league adjustment?) so I guess you’re right. He’s the definition of mediocrity, which is about all you can ask for in the 4-5 slots if he continues to be so durable.
well, just because most teams have lousy pitchers in the 4/5 slots, doesn’t mean that I want a lousy pitcher there!
He would probably be a solid #5, but do you really want to pay him close to 10 mill to be that? To be successful, a team should have the minimum wage guy like Neise (or maybe an early arb guy like Maine) bringing up the rear.
He pitched more innings and had a lower ERA than Cole Hamels. LOL. But that being said sometimes a guy that can give you that many average innings is very valuable. Not 10 million but certainly 6-8 million. Think how much Moyer is getting paid to suck.
I am guessing that if Omar wants Dye, then he will be readily available to him. Hard to see the Sox pending an extra $11mill (12mill option - 1mill buyout) to keep him.
still hits some HRs, but did not have a particularly good year overall (I think a good finish though?) ANd the D good get dicey.
But, if Omar loads up on pitching, and can get him for 1 year cheap (5 mill?), and you have pagan and a sullivan type on the bench, he might be OK?
Again, not to serve as the big bat neccesarily, but a complimentary part to be platooned in some way, if the real $$ goes into pitching.
This off MLBTR:
According to Bart Hubbuch of The NY Post, the Mets have informed reliever J.J. Putz that they will not pick up his $9.1MM option for 2010, instead paying him a $1MM buyout. Hubbuch says the club cited health concerns when breaking the news to Putz.

That’s one debate answered. Only about 55 more to go and hopefully, we’ll know what the team will look like next year.
