“Why Kate, you’re not wearing a bustle.  How lewd.”

-Doc Holliday

That’s a Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday in Tombstone quote.  It has nothing to do with Roy Halladay.  I just like the line.

But according to The Canadian Press, new Toronto Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos is shaping his vision of the franchise going forward and he’s not sure that Halladay fits in.

  • “There are several players I’d be very reluctant to trade. That being said, I have to be open-minded to anything that could make this club better going forward,” said Anthopoulos, adding later that: “(Halladay) stressed his timeline for winning and ours may not mesh and may not match.” - Alex Anthopoulos

That sure warms a Met fan’s heart on a cold fall evening.  Now it’s back to Tombstone for me.

The National Post is also pessimistic that Halladay will remain a Jay for long.

Drunk Jays Fans has their take as well.  I would encourage any baseball fan to keep up with Drunk Jays Fans.  It’s always a fun read.

Ooh, I love me some tombstone but I sure hope this Doc is healthier than the one in the movie.

    Throw in some Young Guns,too.

once we’ve thrown the kitchen sink at Toronto, we should buy another one and throw that too.

Logically, toronto should trade him if he could bring back a good haul. Are they reasonably going to consider themselves a true PS contender next season? If not, use him to build up the talent base for 2010+++.

Up to each fan here to decide if the mets should be thinking the opposite!

I wonder how close to true some of the reported deals JP turned down were this trade deadline? Man, a few of them were awfully good sounding.

I know more teams should theoretically be in on him now, but last year (like with lee) you had him for 2 PS runs, now only 1.

As a 1 year rental, hard to argue with him (if you can swallow the cost). It’s the likely 20mill+/year (5/110?) extension for years 34ish-39ish that are scary!

I still say if they trade for him, they should not try to extend (if he doesn’t require it). Take the 1 year test drive, and if it is a happy marriage, then you can open the vault (since he likely doesn’t sign now for less). If it doesnt work or he gets hurt, you can cut bait (offer arb, take the picks and move on).

thing is, he’ll prob not want to be traded unless he gets that extension. Or is it vice versa? The team won’t wan’t to trade so many prospects if they can’t extend him.
